This blog has been created since I spend all of my life arguing sports with Willis Austin. Being the two knowledgeable sports fans that we are this is our first attempt to include people on the daily banter that often consumes one's life. This blog will often have a daily topic in which you the public will have the opportunity to chime in and give your respective opinions.

My favorite fantasy league is fantasy football for a few reasons. First off football is my favorite sport so its very easy to sucked into fantasy football which only enhances your appreciation of a sport. Though it is only one game a week you have a whole week of anticipation and it gives you extra incentive to stay up for the entire MNF game if your fantasy matchup is hanging in tha balance. I also feel fantasy football is the easiest and yet the one that requires the most attention. You tweak your lineup all week searching for any edge though theoretucally you could set and leave it. Fantasy Football makes it easier for you to watch evry game with interest as you may have be playing against someone inthat game. Finally Fantasy Football Draft Day is a holiday like Christmas when we were kids.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite fantasy league would have to be baseball right now for similar reasons. Baseball is my least favorite sport of the big 3 and it is easy to go on auto pilot. You just have to be sure to set your lineup a few days in advance and keep your pitchers up to date. Also there isn't the trade/FA pickups that the other two leagues have which can be very very competitive.
I'm grateful to be a 365er but baseball is definitely bringing up the rear.
My favorite fantasy sport i guess has to be football. I think with baseball being second even though basketball is favorite sport. Fantasy football is like crack because it gives a quick fast high and then your low for 5 days out of the week. Im not sure if thats a great analogy but it works. Drafting in football is the best thing about fantasy football probably. When you get that text about the draft date your face lights up. Like mark said its Xmas in September. Football is great b/c for that 10hrs on Sunday nothing else in the world matters. And that 3 hrs on monday night as well. For that Sunday you have an opponent a rival in some cases and you are at war with that person. But for me after those 1 o clock games on Sunday on most weeks fantasy dies down some but ur still into it. The bad thing about fantasy football is Tuesday thru Saturday who cares, your just sitting there waitin for Sunday. Thats the one leg up both basketball and baseball have over football. Its everyday your checking box scores its constant. Baseball for us fellow there 365ers has given us a reason to watch sportscenter and watch bbtn every night. Thats the great thing about its a bridge b/twn basketball and football. And you 365ers i applaud you guys as well, b/c it isnt easy keeping tracking of something everyday of the year. But baseball has given us all something to argue about over the summer instead of just sitting around waiting for football to begin.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow 365er and I'm going to agree with you guys. Football is God!!! Football is the best sport easily so of course it's the best fantasy. What else makes it more important is every games matters so much. We play a 13 game regular season, you cant' concede a week. Those early Sunday morning text messages, who should I play?? Every touchdown scored your second thought is whose guy is that?? Those week long self discussions do I play Ricky Williams at New England or do I start Lesean Mccoy at New York. I'm getting goose bumps now!!!! You don't have those problems in the other sports, all you do is a little tweak here or a insignificant add there. In football an add can be the difference of you going home early or you being crowned champion of your league!!
ReplyDeleteFootball by a mile..
I disagree with you guys for the same reason Will just said....there's only 13 regular season games!!! You wake up Tuesday morning, look at the matchup, only to find out you lost by 3 points. Fuck!!! Now I gotta wait until fuckin Sunday for another game? Baseball and basketball require nightly activity, and one bad night doesn't mean an automatic loss. One bad night from your qb Drew Brees will probably sew the loss right up. Plus, every great runningback, wide receiver and tight end gets shut down from time to time. So you find out that Adrian Peterson had 22 rushes for 68 yards and no TDs but my 4th string rb, Cadillac Williams, ran for 138 yards and 2 tds. And if you don't think baseball and basketball require constant drop/adds and require sleepers, you are sadly mistaken. They happen just as often in baseball and basketball, if not more often, as they do in football. For every Sidney Rice out there, there's a Marc Gasol and a Ty Wigginton just sitting on wavers....I like all fantasy sports. Don't get me wrong. But I take baseball first just cause of the non-stop games throughout the season.
