Game 7 recap

Now that we can say goodbye to the Celtics; what do you think propelled the Lakers to the championship and where the Celtics failed?

  1. Recap coming tomorrow morning! Just wanted to give praise to CJ, 19 pts and 18 rebs in the biggest game 2000's maybe for Gasol! you called it! Gotta take my hat off to him. Still not better than Dirk!

  2. Game 7 was one for the ages and this was definitely one of the best series i ve ever seen! Last night wasnt a pretty game at all. But when have you ever heard of war being pretty. And thats exactly what last night was; a war. For people who think that these athletes dont want to win and only care about a paycheck last night should have proved you wrong. I saw emotion, fatigue, grit and determination last night. If there was a loose ball there 3 or 4 bodies fighting for it every time. But it was evident that the C's missed Kendrick Perkins immensely. The Lakers pounded the backboard with sheer effort all night. They had 50 shot attempts in the 1st half due to their effort on the glass and yet they still trailed. Boston gave their it their all all night last night. A true testament to their coach and their stars will to win. You must take your hat off to them. With last nights victory Phil and Kobe have nothing left to prove in my eyes. They can walk off into the sunset and both retire if they want and neither one of them having to look back. Kobe just 31 years old has a great chance to get 1 maybe even two more and they are definitely the favorites heading into next year. This series had everything you could ask for including some unsung heroes. Derek Fisher and Ron Artest hit the two biggest shots of the series if you ask me. With the Lakers down 3 with about 6 mins remaining d-fish drains a triple in the face of rondo. And of course with the Lakers up 3 with about 1:06 remaining in this epic game Ron Artest hits the biggest shot of the season to push the laker lead to six. And with the artest hitting that shot; the beauty of sports was on display last night. Artest who would have been the goat if the Lakers lost and with one shot became the hero just like he had done in game 5 of the western conference finals against the suns. But kudos to artest.

And i also want to take my hats off to the officials last night. I think they called a beautiful game. They lets the players play and let the players decide the game last night. They left it up to the 10 players on the floor and as a fan thats all you can ask for.

Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye!

  3. That was the best series of my life. 7 game series, where both teams held the lead in the series. The stars, the historical element(Kobe's legacy) the Celtics/Lakers element. And Game 7 wasn't pretty to watch but it was a great game!!

The Lakers are a great team, and I'll go on record right now and say barring a Lebron/Wade/Bosh team they'll be there next year again. Pau Gasol was huge, he made big play after big play. A nice pass to the cutter, a tough finish inside, a tipped pass, huge rebounds!! He was amazing. Big shout out to Queens Bridge!!! He was huge all night as well, tough D on Paul, timely steals and the biggest shot of the night a three-ball to put the Lakers up 6 in the last minute. Kobe? It wasn't his best game but he got the job done. 23 points and 15 rebounds in a bad game?? That says a lot about him, his shot wasn't falling but he found other ways to contribute. What a way to end the season...

  4. I would like to congratulate the NBA referees for once again ruining another basketball series. This was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. Not to mention the ugliest game 7 I have ever seen. I saw a team in the Lakers who couldn't buy any buckets, so the refs gave it to them. Anytime a team misses more free throws then there opponent attempts; then there is a problem. But Kobe lovers and Lakers fan will never admit to it. The Lakers missed all those free throws because the ball doesn't lie. Some of you might think I'm bitter, but the numbers don't lie. Sheed Wallace wasn't waiting for the refs after the game last night for no reason. Staples center security forced him to leave. I'm a student of the game and a basketball purest. It just kills me to continuosly see these travesties of sports justice. I know people feel like MJ got all the calls, but how many baskets was he thrown under before they started blowing the whistle. I feel like in a game 7, which is the best one out of one it should earned not given to you. Kobe shot brick after brick until the refs sent him to the line until he gathered his rhythm. He finished with 23 points on 24 shot attempts, and that is considered greatness. Right. That was one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a finals MVP. They gave it to him because he shot it so much. I wish people would understand how much the Hollywood types who drop bundles on those tickets effect the game. I have said it time and time again I am not a Kobe fan, but I respect his ability. Despite what he or anybody else in this world thinks he cannot sit at the table with Jordan. Magic yes; Jordan no; people who have lost in the finals can't sit at the table with Mike. I have been watching and following sports since I was about 8. This decade has had the worst officiating ever. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have blogged about it and everybody wouldn't be talking about it. I have been watching sportscenter since it became a part of the cable package and never has officiating been scrutinized the way it has in this decade. Knowone cares because Kobe is back on top. It doesn't bother me that he won, I just prefer that he earn it, and not have it gift wrapped.

  5. Will R; What did the referees do wrong last night besides let the players decide the game? You and Doc Rivers are the only two people i ve heard complain about the officials. The refs dont shoot the basketball, the refs dont defend the other team the players do. As a sports fan you cant downplay last night at all. Great atmosphere, great game and great players you couldnt have asked for a better night last night. I mean standing up for an entire half to watch a basketball game when your in the house; it doesnt get any better than that. I felt like Jack in the front row! So i dont want to hear anything about the officiating when the "great paul pierce" didnt score a basket down the stretch. Was the refs fault that artest was in jock all night long. No help; no double team he got locked up; not the referees fault. And Kobe shot poorly but he does superstars do he found a way to win by doing other things. He grabbed huge rebounds; trusted his teammates and when his time came he knocked down the free throws and found players for open shots. And unlike Paul Pierce Kobe got tripled team lets not forget that. Kobe and Michael we ll save for another day!

  7. This blog is about opinion's, my opinion is that the refs gave it to the Lakers. Without the Celtics best defender it took phantom foul calls to secure the Championship. I am not a Celtics fan I like the Bulls, Thursday night reaffirms for me why I don't like watching Lakers home games. At this point what does it matter the game is decided. They are a good team who was having an off night don't give it to them. It took 20 more free throw attempts to secure a 4 point win. I can count at least 5 missed foul calls down on the other end, and Boston only missed 2 free throws the whole game. You do the math. They made sure LAKER BALL reigned supreme.

LAKER BALL is when the other teams efforts are snuffed out by phantom foul calls.

  8. Name the 5 calls that Boston didn't get and I'll name 5 calls the Lakers didn't get. The Lakers were the more aggressive team which is why they shot more free throws.

MJ got the calls but how many bad baskets was he thrown under?? So you're justifying MJ getting calls?? And in the next sentence your saying LAKER BALL??? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Also you say 24 shots for 23 points?? Jordan avg 34 shots for a final series!!! That's greatness. Jordan shot 35 of 67 shots for a Finals game. That's greatness?? You can't have it one way for him and judge Kobe differently for doing the same thing.

He can sit at the table with Magic and next year move over MJ make room for Kobe!!

  9. No room for Kobe at the table with Jordan, he lost too many finals for that. He can sit with Magic because they both know how it feels to when 5 rings and lose mutiple championships. Michael Jordan has never felt the pain of losing a NBA finals series so he can't relate to any losers. Listen, we can go back in forth forever, about this. It's all opinion, you say the Laker were the aggressors going to the basket. Whatever; they shot worst from the field than Boston did, the only difference was they got 20 more free throw attempts to make up the difference. There are two sides of the fence. Those people who watched it with rose colored glasses because they were cheering for Kobe, and the rest of us who witnessed the theft. Everybody sees what they wanna see. Damn , even T-Rod agrees with me, we didn't plan that. I haven't talked to her or seen her in a month. What did she say to you Chillz; and I quote "the refs started cheating". Laker ball is only emplemented during the lakers hone games when they need it the most, ie game 7.

  10. You sound absolutely ridiculous. What's next? Laker Ball is only game 7, at home, on Sunday, before Father's Day, in an even year, when a democrat is in office, after the Yankees win the World Series? That's what I'm bracing for next.

T-Rod? I'm not disregarding her testimony b/c she's a female but I don't know the extinct of her sports knowledge. Can she name 5 people that were on the court? I highly doubt it.

You watched the game with rose colored glasses. Not only game 7, but every game since 1998. You and the rest of you guys that have MJ locked in that #1 spot forever regardless of what goes on in the NBA. You can't honestly as a credible sports say anything about the Lakers getting calls when you're a Bulls fan. I'll leave you with this...

MICHAEL JORDAN MADE MORE FREE THROWS IN A FINALS GAME THAN THE ENTIRE OTHER TEAM ATTEMPTED!!!!

    Please respond to that!!
