Phils vs Yanks
Phils and Yanks begin a 3 game set in Yankees Stadium starting tonight? Any thoughts or comments?
Despite the Phils struggles of late, i think they actually play well this series and take 2 of 3 from the Yankees and this starts to propel them back to the top of the NL. But the one thing that bothers me is that when people say oh this is a World Series rematch. I think thats stupid. The same thing is never at stake when the two teams meet again in the regular season in any sport! Lets say the Phils win this series what the hell does that prove. The Yankees still have title. I think the Yanks will take the title 7 days out of the week! Its like when two teams meet in the NFL meet in the preseason after facing one another in the SB what does it prove. It becomes a rematch if the meet again with the championship is stake! Maybe im just nitpicking; but thats one of my sport pet peeves!
It is a World Series rematch b/c they played in the World Series last year!! At the same time it is irrelevant, it's a 3-game set in June. Who cares? The Phils took this series last year in the Bronx and at the time we all knew they would meet again in October. This year, I cant even say the Phils are the best team in the NL East. The Phils played out of there minds the last 2 years but realistically how long did we expect them to play at that level. Is Shane Victorino an all-star?? No. Is Jason Werth? No. Carlos Ruiz? No. Rauuuuuul? Def No!!The Phils will make a run and might win the division but I can't see them in the World Series again. I think as good as Polanco is, they were better with Feliz in that line-up. He made them a true AL style line-up, 3-7 all could go deep with one swing, now Victorino will be down there?? I thought he was more dangerous in the 2 hole, with that speed and slight pop but in the 7 hole?? Not really scary
I'm not too sure about the Phils takin 2 of 3. After the 1st game u knew it was going to be interesting but quite frankly the way Burnett pitched last night didn't even surprise me. The guy has great stuff but he's a loose cannon waiting to go off. He started the season 4-0 w an ERA just under 2...now u look at the guy in his last 8 starts n he's 2-6 and he's let up 6+ runs in 4 of them. Last night he was struggling n when he does that he starts leavin the ball up in the zone-just ask Howard or Worth about that. Also its the litle things that bite that guy in the ass. Somethin we all started learning when we were 9yrs old...Tex makes a beautiful play at 1st ...but wait...where's AJ?? Not covering! And why u ask? Caz he's a loose cannon n let's things effect him if it doesn't go "his way" and then its a wrap. Tonights game should be totally different bc Andy's on the mound. Look for him to attack the zone early and use his offspeed pitches to get some quality outs. I think tonight will b a good game w Andy pickin up his 9th win. But as far as trying to gauge this series as a "rematch" would be far fetched especially when both teams aren't healthy. And if anyone see's Chase or Shane(or anyone else on ur squad for that matter) please tell them be careful over there on 1st....caz u might get picked off!!
