This blog has been created since I spend all of my life arguing sports with Willis Austin. Being the two knowledgeable sports fans that we are this is our first attempt to include people on the daily banter that often consumes one's life. This blog will often have a daily topic in which you the public will have the opportunity to chime in and give your respective opinions.
I think tonights game will say a lot about the series! I think tonight if the Lakers win, they ll win six games or if they lose tonight they ll have to do it in 7. I believe Kobe comes out looking for blood early and often! Tonight i feel like will be a vintage kobe performance and you might see one of those 40 to 50 point games. Followed by Gasol and expect a decent game from Lamar Odom for the first time this series! The Lakers win tonight by 7. Im going to the let the officials officiate and not comment on how i think the calls will go tonight. We ll just have to wait and see! But it will be a close game all the way with the lakers hitting free throws late to win by 7.
Huge game tonight!! The NBA Finals haven't been tied 1-1 since 2003, which means were going to see intensity we haven't seen in a long time. I'm really leaning towards saying the winner of tonight's game may win the whole thing. I'm not going to run the stats down of how many teams that win game 3 go on to win the series(87%) but whoever wins this game has a big leg up to win the series.
With that being said, The Lakers win tonight, Boston needed 27 first half points from Ray Allen and a triple double from Rondo to beat the Lakers on a bad night. Rondo is very capable of putting up another triple double but Ray Allen for all his greatness normally disappears after a game like he had on Sunday. Paul Pierce will play a better game and that player once known as "The Big Ticket" has to be better than he's shown, but is that enough?? The Lakers just have too much; length, talent, athleticism, and too much MAMBA. If Kobe isn't in foul trouble Game 2, with the contributions they got from Bynum and Gasol the Lakers would've handled Boston. Side note: Has anyone seen Lamar Odom??? If found return to Staples Center or the Garden he's badly needed right now.
All this love for Pau Gasol is making me turn against him. He played extremely well on Sunday night for a line of 25 pts and 8 boards. I'll repeat that sentence, He played extremely well on Sunday night for a line of 25 pts and 8 boards?? That is a good line for a "top 5" big in the league?? Gasol never faces double teams the way that the "real dominate bigs" face, Gasol has never dominated a game!!! Dwight Howard dominates the game on both ends of the floor, faces double teams and gets assaulted in the paint but Gasol's is a better player??? Dirk, Amare, Bosh, Dwight, Yao and I'll name more on request...
Its hard to say who is going to win because of the way the refs have been calling the game. Iam expecting Boston to get majority of the calls The key for the lakers is not to have Kobe and Gasol take majority of the fouls. If them two can stay on the floor it shouldnt be a problem because i dont very seriously think Ray Allen could have a repeat performance like game two and Boston has been known to lose games at home. Tonight Kobe will put the team on his back and carry them to victory. I never seen anyone so focused as Kobe, his determination and will to win is unmatched. He wont admit it but those of us who are close to him knows when its said and done Kobe Bryant wants to be known as the greatest of all time.
ok let me set you two straight quickly. For one of course chances are ray allen is going to repeat that performance. Chances are he isnt going to hit 8 three's but he is very capable of 4 or 5. And who knows maybe 4 or 5 is a enough. But as far as im concerned Ray will play well tonight. he will get a lot of attention from the Laker defense! As far Gasol goes i think he is getting extreme praise right now and i agree with Will in that i ll take bosh, dirk over pau easily. But as far getting double teamed I havent seen dwight get double teamed once this postseason and Boston definitely played him straight up! So cut it out with the double team nonsense! Bc dwight never gets doubled team your vendetta against pau is clearly on display here!
I never said anything about Ray Allen hitting three pointers, ,that shows he's no longer a great player if he has to hit 8 threes to get 30 points. I'm saying he won't score 30 period, maybe not until next year against the Bobcats. He'll get the attention but he's not a creator, he's no great passer!! He'll do what he does, if he's on great if not doesn't effect Boston. Don't get me started on Ray Allen, 5 second half points in his greatest performance??
If Dwight Howard doesn't get double teamed then why did they make such a big deal when Boston chose to play him straight up?? If nobody double teams him why would the media care when the best defensive team in the NBA followed suit?? Gasol gets single coverage every night and scored 18 points a game.... Boozer can't do that?? Tim Duncan, Zach Randolph, can't do that?
If ray allen cant do all these things then why is a hall of famer? Please me riddle that! So if you wanna go in on him go all the way in and list all his numbers and what he is done with his own team b/c i believed we discussed this. And what did u do at the end of the discussion?
And they make a big deal about Dwight b/c as much as he is praised or someone who is "that good" doesnt get double-teamed is disrespectful and makes for news. He is lack of offensive skill is news. Thats why its a big deal!
They made a big deal because it doesn't happen!!!! You would probably say Bill Russell wasn't a superstar because he wasn't as skilled as other bigs on the offensive end. How do you feel about Bill Russell's lack of a go to move, would you claim he wasn't a superstar?? Dwight led the league in rebounding and block in consecutive years!!! Nobody has ever done it twice, let alone consecutively !!!
Ray Allen has been 2nd team all-NBA once. His #s?? Gilbert Arenas had better #s!! And the basketball hall-of-fame isn't as exclusive as the NFL or the MLB halls so it's saying that much. The NFL and MLB hall-of-fame classes, are national news. The NBA.....
To discredit the NBA hall of fame as not prestigious is a ridiculousness. What did you tell me yesterday about Ray Allen? did you not apologize for your ignorance about not calling him a hall of famer? Give the argument to the blog that you gave me yesterday! And as far of the hall of fame goes tell me two of three players who got into the baseball hall of fame last year without looking it up! And trust me i know who they are but it wasnt national news! And i hope u would have enough integrity to not go look it up, since their hall of fame is more prestigious.
And Russell is great and i cant knock him! In that NBA it wasnt imperative. The skill set back then isnt even on the same stratusphere as it is today! And Russell won 11 titles dwight howard has won 1 finals game! So please dont compare the two! And who knows if Russell would be a superstar today, but if he were winning title after like he did back then; then he sure would be!
