This blog has been created since I spend all of my life arguing sports with Willis Austin. Being the two knowledgeable sports fans that we are this is our first attempt to include people on the daily banter that often consumes one's life. This blog will often have a daily topic in which you the public will have the opportunity to chime in and give your respective opinions.
This was a very entertaining series!! It was dramatic, star-studded and unpredictable. This series epitomizes the phrase "The game isn't played on paper, it's played on the field". When you look at these teams on paper and the way the Phils came off the sweep of the Reds, the Giants didn't stand a chance in hell. That's why they play the game!(Chris Berman).
I think Bruce Bochy out managed Charlie Manuel. Everybody that faces the Phils always brings a lefty reliever out to face Utley and Howard. The Giant did it in game 1 and in game 2 Charlie switched his lineup. What?? He had the same lineup in everygame of the postseason last year and now after they sweep the Reds and lose game 1 he switched the lineup. To me that showed a chink in there armor. Then he benched Ibanez for a game, dropped Victorino from lead-off. It just seemed like he didn't have a clue. Meanwhile Bochy was pushing all the right buttons, switching his rotation, inserting Rowand and Sandoval.
By the way, i picked San Francisco to win the series.
