This blog has been created since I spend all of my life arguing sports with Willis Austin. Being the two knowledgeable sports fans that we are this is our first attempt to include people on the daily banter that often consumes one's life. This blog will often have a daily topic in which you the public will have the opportunity to chime in and give your respective opinions.

Top 10 point guards in the league. Since nobody wants to touch the subject, then I'll touch it...
ReplyDelete1. Deron Williams. 6'3, 210. He's the best in the league. Big, strong, can shoot, great passer!! True PG in every sense of the word.
2. Chris Paul. CP-3 is the sexy pick but he's only taken his team to the offs once! He's the most unstoppable point guard but he's #2(right now).
3. Steve Nash. He's still as good as he was when he was #1. He just took his team to the Western Conf. Finals again. Look at that roster.
4. Rajon Rondo. He's in a great situation but he's thrived! He's probably the best Celtic now of the 4. He's lightning fast, great defender, and so crafty with the ball.
5. Chauncey Billups. He's a leader. Denver with its great cast never made it out of the first rd. until he came. He averaged a career high in points so he's still rolling high.
6. Jason Kidd. He's still a triple double threat every night. Still plays great defense. Still leads like by example.
7. Derrick Rose. He's young but really good. He's taking his team to the playoffs in his first 2 years. He averaged 20 points while being a play-maker for others on his team.
8. Russell Westbrook. Young athletic and gifted. He lead his team(along w/ Durant!) to the playoffs in the West! Made the Lakers adjust to him in the offs. Great rebounder and good defender.
9. Aaron Brooks. So underrated its a shame! He averaged 20 points in the West last year, won most improved. He led team with Ariza, Scola and Battier to an over .500 record in the West. He took a team w/o Yao and McGrady to game 7 against the Lakers in the second rd. He's legit.
10. Steph Curry. He's scary good. He's going to avg 22, 8 and 5 this year. But as a point guard you have to lead a team!
Lets go!!
10. Chauncey Billups - I have him so low on my list because he shoots a terrible percentage from the floor. However he is a great free throw shooter and a better leader than he gets credit for.
ReplyDelete09. Stephen Curry - Despite playing for Don Nelson in his ringling brothers barnum and bailey system, he hit half of his shots from the floor, and almost hit half of his threes as a rookie, while coexisting with Monta Ellis. As well as not having a legitimate post prescence to rely on every night.
08. Jason Kidd - Still a great passer and rebounder. What he should be given the most credit for is the fact that he has become a real threat from behind the arc. With that being said. Why did he wait so long to add that to his arsenal. Imagine how great he would have been if he had added that shot 10 years ago.
07. Russell Westbrook- Russell Westbrook need I say more?
06. Rajon Rondo - Tremendous playmaker, leader, and defender. If he ever develops a consistent shot to go with the rest of his talents league watch out.
5. Brandon Jennings - I know some of you are gonna read this and say "what the fuck". Hear me out, he played in a lot of meaningful games, 55 points in his 7th start, and only one other point guard on this list did what he did. Lead his team to the playoffs as a rookie. When his big man went down, the hawks still had to struggle to beat them.
4. Derrick Rose - I was skeptical when he was at memphis. I am a skeptic no more. There is not a player in the league who can stay in front of him. I have never seen a point guard who had a game put together with all that explosiveness. With no real post prescence he still helped his team to back to back playoff appearances in his first two seasons. The ladder year he did it while losing 20 ppg to the Detroit Pustons.
3. Steve Nash - Savvy vet who just seems not to age. I keep waiting for him to take a step back but it just doesn't happen this guy is just tremendous. He just lacks the ability to play D and that's why his teams never get over the hump.
2. CP3 - Little big man who brings it every night. When he is on the floor the Hornets are very tough, the problem is that he has little help, which causes him to be frustrated with his front office.
1. Deron Williams - I'm not gonna bore you with the stats. He is the best point guard in the NBA PERIOD
