This blog has been created since I spend all of my life arguing sports with Willis Austin. Being the two knowledgeable sports fans that we are this is our first attempt to include people on the daily banter that often consumes one's life. This blog will often have a daily topic in which you the public will have the opportunity to chime in and give your respective opinions.

After watching game one it became clear to me even more how limited Dwight Howard is offensively. No premiere big man in the league is ever single covered. The Celtics clearly do not respect the offensively abilities of this man and yet they closely guarded the shooters and said go ahead Dwight you beat us with ur offensive skill set and we will put on the line and try to beat us from there. Yet again he comes up short offensively. Yea he played 39 minutes and had 13 and 12 but lets not forget last year when he went for like 40 and 16 against a Garnett less celtics in that game 7. Lets see him do that this time around. I know its only Game 1 and the Celtics have already proven that they can anywhere and arent the least bit intimidated by Orlando. Orlando made a run late but who cares if you ask me! Now this the so called juggernaut that was Orlando is now looking for moral victories I for one am not buying it. The score was close but Boston clearly outplayed the Magic. Im interested to see how Orlando responds after a loss the for the first time this postseason!
ReplyDeleteI don't want to discredit Boston's victory but I'm going to chalk this one up to rust. The Magic didn't look like the team swept through the first two rounds of the playoffs. It's only human nature to start reading your press, and buying into your own hype and they forgot the game was played on the court. With all that said the final score was 92-88. Everything went right for Boston, all their stars were involved even Sheed made a cameo and despite all that Orlando still made it interesting down the sretch.
ReplyDeleteOrlando doesn't have to change anything about the way they played. Orlando can win this series with Dwight Howard scoring 13 points a game, as I stated in the preview his value isn't measured in scoring but in his rebounding and defense. They slowed down Rajon Rondo which I said they would and they held KG to 8 points(big difference). The player they're really need in this series is Rashard Lewis. Their not going to win many games with him giving them 6 points and 0 three pointers. Him spotting up and knocking down triples is what makes there pick and roll go. If he gets it going we going to see a Finals rematch.
After watching game 1, Rashard Lewis has confirmed to me that he is the most overrated overpaid starter in the NBA.
ReplyDeleteIf Stan Van Gundy had any sense he would have play Gortat and Howard together instead of Lewis logging 35 minutes plus like he is sometype HOF player that has to be out there.
Jameer Nelson continues to prove that he is the most underrated point guard in basketball. Even though he is barely 6 feet tall and is slower than undersized point guard should be. He is a lights out shooter and is deadly in the pick and roll game.
Kendrick Perkins doesn't give you the highlight blocks, but he continues to show why he is severly undervalued by NBA fans, his defensive effort allowed the Celtics the ability to play the Magic shooters straight up. He will not back down and make Howard earn every basket. When is the last time you seen Howard not get a dunk in a game because I certainly can't remember it.
