This blog has been created since I spend all of my life arguing sports with Willis Austin. Being the two knowledgeable sports fans that we are this is our first attempt to include people on the daily banter that often consumes one's life. This blog will often have a daily topic in which you the public will have the opportunity to chime in and give your respective opinions.

Philadelphia Phillies World Series Champs??
Can the Phillies be stopped?? Does any team have what it takes to stop this juggernaut or will they self-destruct??
The Phillies are really looking unstoppable right now and it's bitter sweet for me. Personally I love the Phillies, I can name the 93 Phillies batting order. I've watched close every year and now that they're on top I can't really enjoy it b/c of all these fair-weather Philly fans!! 7 years ago nobody cared about the Phils! When Kevin Millwood threw his no-no nobody said anything. They were caught up in all that Eagle hoopla and now that's cooled off now they're leeching off the Phils success. It makes me sick and it's only going to get worse...
Nobody is going to beat this team!! How can you?? You got bats, we got bats. You got arms, we got arms(Mase, Harlem World 98). Anything that you do well, they do it better. They also have the best home-field advantage in the league. A home Phillies game is like a home game for Duke Basketball, its absolutely insane!!!
Let's get serious for a min...
They have an AL style line-up... From 1-8 there's not 1 easy out in the whole lineup and they can all hit for power. There also a good running team. Jimmy and Shane will kill you on the bases and even Utley and Werth will hurt you if your not careful.
They have the best 3-man rotation in baseball. H2O, Halladay(previous post, top 10 pitchers in baseball he wasn't ranked lower than 2 on any list) is just the man! Hamels is re-born and looking like the man from 2008. He was as dominant as any pitcher from the last 20 playoffs that year and he pitched that way in September. Oswalt, his addition made this team re-focus and take its rightful place among the MLB's elite.
The Bullpen, a very underrated fact about the 2008 phillies was the bullpen "The Bridge to Lidge". In the 08 offs, when the Phils were up after 6 it was lights out!!! Romero worked the 7th, Madsen worked the 8th and Lidge was perfect in the 9th. While Madsen and Lidge have regained there form from 08 Romero hasn't but it won't matter b/c H2O will get you to the 8th themselves.
With all that said, were looking down the barrel of a dynasty forming!!
Lets see are the Phillies going to win the world series.. There is a simple answer to this question; YES! This team has no flaws in it. Chillz left no stone unturned. Can the Phils hit yes, can the field yes, are they clutch yes, do they have a competent manager yes, do they have playoff experience yes and do they have home field yes. If this team doesnt win the world series then i ll be shocked. hey chillz remember what you said about Cole hamels when i told you about him in 2007. And remember how you were ripping him. In the words of Jay Z "guess who is back". It will be difficult for any team to beat the Phils in a 7 game series when you h2o pitching six of seven games perhaps. I believe their is only team that can trip this team up in a short series. The San Francisco Giants in a short series should scare you if your a Phila fan. That staff is tremendous too. And with pitching being as good as it is between the two teams a 2-1 game can go either way. I think if the Phils can find a way to avoid SF then they will be no hiccup as the team will hoist the trophy again this year.
Looking at the teams in the playoffs, I see no team with a better pitching staff than the Phillies and no National League team can score runs like the Phillies can. I think the Phillies will end up playing the Reds the first round, which will probably be a sweep. Then the Phils will probably play the Giants in the NLDS. The Giants have a staff that can shut down anyone with Lincecum, Cain, and Sanchez. However, the Giants won't be able to score enough runs to win this series.
Then looking at the World Series, I'm looking for a rematch of either the 2008 or 2009 World Series. Again the same problems with these teams. With the Yankees, you have Sabbathia then a bunch of question marks. Is Pettite healthy enough to pitch well? AJ Burnett looks terrible, and Phil Hughes is a fraud. Meanwhile, the Rays ahve some good starting pitching (David Price, James Shields, Matt Garza), but this team has struggled to score runs off of good pitching this year.
I think the Phillies will be the favorites to win it all, and with home field advantage, it's gonna be tough for anyone to beat them....especially with H2O locked in the way they are.
